UHP welcomes two seasonal wardens to the team

May 6, 2022

Two enthusiastic seasonal wardens have joined the UHP team for the summer, Sally Pegg and Phil O’Keefe.

They’ll be working on behalf of Dorset Council, wardening, monitoring and engaging with the public. Say hello if you meet them out and about.

Sally has a background in research and teaching. She is passionate about the environment, volunteering at Blashford Nature Reserve (Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife trust) in both educational and environment management capacities. In her spare time she is a keen gardener and cook as well as a musician (clarinet and saxophone). She enjoys outdoor and energetic activities including walking, cycling, running, kayaking and fishing.

Having previously volunteered with various local conservation organisations, Phil started as a seasonal with the Amphibian & Reptile Conservation Trust in 2019 and continues to work with them during winter maintenance seasons. He joined UHP as a seasonal warden during the summer of 2021 and has returned to us this year. With a keen interest in native amphibians and reptiles he thoroughly enjoys spending time on heathland along with chatting to members of the public. Outside of work he enjoys playing cricket and continues to learn drum kit.
