Along with our partners in the fire service, Urban Heaths Partnership wardens responded to a fire at Winfrith Heath on Monday afternoon. It is thought the fire was deliberately set.
Sadly, 0.23 hectares of heathland was lost.
A reptile rescue was carried out Monday evening and the following morning, with 19 common lizards translocated to good habitat, including 3 juveniles. Unfortunately, 5 dead slow worms were also found, along with one common toad (pictured) who sadly didn’t survive.
