On Sunday 12th May we took over Poole Park for a celebration of the Dorset heathlands and harbour.
Our partner environmental organisations came along with lots of fun activities for families and trade stands sold doggy items, food and heathland artwork.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service and Dorset Police attended to share information about their work.
The dog show was run by Dorset Dogs and had categories including ‘Best Veteran’, ‘Best Rescue’ and ‘Dog the Judge Would Most Like to Take Home’. Goody bags were awarded to the worthy winners!
Models of heathland creatures were created by students from Arts University Bournemouth and decorated by local primary school groups. These were beautiful creations and included the ladybird spider, sand lizard and nightjar. Children also wrote poetry to teach the public about the amazing wildlife that lives on the Dorset heaths.
